Champion Wagyu! AWA Accolades.

With over 46 entries representing 30 wagyu brands in this year’s Wagyu Branded Beef Competition, we knew this race would be tough. Our Wagyu brands are world class and this event, run by industry body, Australian Wagyu Association, hosts the best of the best, so we threw our hat in the ring.

We’re proud to be in the rich company of these world class Wagyu Brand competitors.

Australia has been producing incredible Wagyu for a long time and this year, in 2022, we strongly believe our country is at its peak in innovation, flavour and finesse when it comes to Australian Wagyu products. Which for us, makes these wins all the more inspiring.

To put the event into perspective, this is how the competition is executed. The 46 entries were categorised into three classes.

Class 1 – Fullblood Japanese Black Steak
Class 2 – Open Crossbred Wagyu Steak
Class 3 – Commercial Wagyu Steak MS5 – 7

Under a point scoring system, each class entrant was judged strictly against the criteria of tenderness, juiciness, flavour and aroma. Amassing a score graded as a percentage of total points possible, medals were allocated to winning entrants accordingly.

Total medals won among all classes: 15 Gold | 11 Silver | 5 Bronze and 1 Class Champion per category. With Class Champion being the highest honour of all. In other words:

Class 1 – Fullblood Japanese Black Steak

  • Gold 80%
